BM450 Bread Maker with Ingredients Dispenser
By Kenwood
A high quality good-looking bread maker with a wide range of options, the most handy being the fast mode, which makes bread in 58 minutes. Far superior to other bread makers we have used, mixing the dough very well and not scratching easily when you make seeded loaves.
Bread rises nicely even when you use 30% wholemeal on the fast mode. In fact I'd recommend the fast mode when putting in any dried ingredients such as sun dried tomatoes since they don't get time to absorb an unpredictable amount of the liquid needed for the dough, and remain more firm and less likely to be mashed up and disappear into the bread, though you can use the seed dispenser on longer modes anyway.
The pizza dough mode is quite long, but that's because it has a long proving time. You can always get it out before it is finished, roll out your pizza base and fast prove it in a heating oven just before you add toppings and cook it for real.
There's a large dispenser to add nuts, sun dried tomatoes or fruit partway through the cycle. Added from the beginning, they can get broken into too small pieces by the mixing action and soak up some of the liquid intended for the flour, though this happens less in rapid mode.
Parts for this bread maker are replaceable, which should make it far more eco-friendly and long-lasting. So even if you drop a large fossil ammonite on the glass lid like we did you can replace it (the lid glass), though we use a roof slate instead and now can say we have a stone bread oven! (not recommended!)
